Imaging the Activity of Plasmonic Electrocatalysts

A scientific internship imaging chemical activity in plasmonic electrocatalysts. Plasmonic nanoparticles exhibit diverse effects under light exposure, such as enhancing electric fields and forming short-lived charged species, with applications in nanomedicine and photocatalysis. The intern investigates plasmonic nanoparticles for next-generation electrocatalytic reactors by using scanning electrochemical microscopy, a new type of scanning probe microscopy that helps understand the working mechanism in plasmonic chemistry.

Criteria: Currently enrolled in a Master's program in physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related field; nationality of an EU-member state and/or a student at a university in the Netherlands; internship must be a mandatory part of the curriculum; availability for at least 5 months (longer preferable).
