Optomechanical State Transfer Through Radiation Pressure Feedback

Academic Research Opportunity

A scientific internship on optomechanical state transfer through radiation-pressure feedback. Optical-to-mechanical state transfer is an important capability for emerging quantum networks and quantum memories; cavity optomechanics provides a platform where radiation pressure mediates the interaction between optical fields and mechanical motion. The project investigates a new method for state transfer based on ultrasensitive optical measurements and feedback through radiation pressure forces, exploring the novel possibility of continuous state transfer.

Criteria: Currently enrolled in a Master's program in physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related field; nationality of an EU-member state and/or a student at a university in the Netherlands; the internship must be a mandatory part of the curriculum; available for at least 5 months. Application includes motivation letter, resume, and list of followed courses plus grades; online screening may be part of the selection.
