Prof. Koerte's research investigates the effects of traumatic brain injury on the brain's structure, function, and development, including signs of accelerated aging and neuroinflammation from repetitive brain trauma, risk factors, and biomarkers of neurodegenerative disorders such as chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

Application
Criteria: Participation is via the LMU Forschungsmodul Medizin (preclinical research module) matching process, which begins in mid-June; students are asked to familiarize themselves thoroughly with the available projects before applying. The module is designed for LMU medical students in the pre-clinical phase, and supervising students without prior laboratory experience is explicitly anticipated.
