iCORE - Interdisciplinary Collaborative Research Training Program

summer research program

9-week summer program (June-August) pairing students with mentors on clinical research studies in health equity research, emergency medicine, and nursing research. Students engage in literature review, protocol development, instrument design, data collection/management/analysis, and writing of abstracts. Includes intensive orientation, weekly didactic sessions, hands-on ultrasound/simulation/suturing workshops, and a formal final presentation.

Criteria: Must be currently enrolled (matriculated) in a U.S. academic institution at the time of application review. Undergraduate students must have completed at least one full year of undergraduate coursework; community/junior college students must have completed at least one full year of coursework and be enrolled in at least three courses per term. Post-baccalaureate pre-health students must have earned a bachelor's degree and be enrolled in a post-baccalaureate pre-health program. Health profession (graduate-level) students must have completed at least one semester in an accredited program in nursing, medicine, optometry, osteopathy, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, or public health. Strong interest in clinical or health equity research; good written, verbal, computer, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage time, pay attention to detail, and work independently; official transcript required with application.
