10-week intense research training programme for elite international students pursuing research postgraduate studies

A 10-week intense research training programme with networking activities for elite international students who intend to pursue research postgraduate (PhD/MPhil) studies. Participants receive one-on-one mentoring from HKU professors across multiple faculties and departments (excluding the Faculty of Law). Weeks 1-2 may be attended online, with in-person attendance required from Week 3 onward. Outstanding participants may receive a conditional offer linked to the HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship.

Criteria: Eligibility: Year 3-4 undergraduates with CGPA 3.6+ (or equivalent), OR Master's students holding a Bachelor's degree with First Class Honours (or equivalent). Faculty of Law does not accept applications. Selection based on: outstanding academic performance, strong research interest, prior research experience, interdisciplinary interest, English proficiency, and maturity/independence. Required materials: personal statement (300-500 words), research interest statement (100-200 words), CV, transcripts, passport photo, and English proficiency test results (if applicable).

Costs & Contact

Stipend: HK$10,000 scholarship upon completion; airfare reimbursement up to HK$5,000; university accommodation support up to HK$5,000; prizes for top performers
