ENHANCE Platform for Student Research Opportunities

A collaborative portal connecting students with research internships, thesis projects, and academic stays across the ENHANCE Alliance network.

Research Internship

The ENHANCE Platform for Student Research Opportunities is a centralized digital hub designed to facilitate international research mobility for students and young researchers within the ENHANCE Alliance, a consortium of ten leading European universities of technology. This platform serves as a matching mechanism, connecting students at the Bachelor, Master, and PhD levels with researchers who are offering specific research-oriented positions. Participants can engage in a variety of activities, including research internships in laboratory settings, independent thesis projects supported by international supervisors, and volunteer research stays. The program operates under the "One Campus" vision, which aims to create a seamless European academic space where students can move freely between partner institutions to enrich their education and develop future-oriented skills. Member universities include Technische Universität Berlin, RWTH Aachen, Politecnico di Milano, Chalmers University of Technology, ETH Zurich, TU Delft, and others. Research stays facilitated through the platform typically last up to six months and can be conducted in physical, virtual, or blended formats, depending on the requirements of the host institution and the specific project. Application procedures are decentralized; interested students apply directly to the responsible researcher offering the opportunity. While many research stays are self-funded or supported through standard mobility grants such as Erasmus+, the platform also highlights specific funded initiatives like the ENHANCE Research Internship Programme, which provides financial support for selected applicants. This infrastructure is designed to remove administrative barriers to mobility, promote intercultural learning, and encourage the development of a unified European academic community focused on tackling global societal and technological challenges through science and technology.
