The Yanai Initiative, in collaboration with the Waseda University Graduate School of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, provides support to advanced graduate students and recent Ph.D. graduates whose research focuses on the Japanese humanities. This program encompasses two distinct opportunities: the Yanai Initiative Scholarship and the Yanai Initiative Research Fellow position. The scholarship is awarded annually to Waseda Ph.D. students demonstrating an interest in participating in academic discourse beyond Japan. The research fellow position is available to recent Ph.D. graduates in Japanese humanities from any institution who exhibit significant potential to contribute to their field globally. These fellowships aim to foster scholarly engagement and research in the Japanese humanities.
