The Irving Institute for Cancer Dynamics at Columbia University offers a 10-week summer research opportunity for talented undergraduate students. This interdisciplinary institute, located on the Morningside Heights Campus, focuses on the interplay between mathematical sciences and cancer research, with interests including tumor evolution, computational 'omics, immunology, and metabolism. The program provides participants with an interdisciplinary research experience, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Students will work full-time on a research project under the guidance of an IICD researcher and attend weekly events such as scientific seminars, workshops, career development sessions, lab tours, and scientific writing/presentation opportunities. Undergraduate students from diverse fields including mathematics, computer science, statistics, computational biology, data science, biology, and engineering are encouraged to apply, especially those from traditionally underrepresented groups in STEM. The program includes a stipend and reimbursement for commuting expenses.
