The INSIGHT Internship at City St George’s offers students and early-career professionals in health or social care with an opportunity to work with a research team in a research area aligned with their professional interests. This internship is designed to support participants in understanding and critically evaluating the factors that influence and shape effective research in practice. The program aims to build a comprehensive and critical understanding of a clinical research area, develop skills in research practice including service-user involvement, recruitment, data collection, analysis, and dissemination, and address research management and ethics. The activities are determined by the individual in negotiation with the host research team, with participants fully engaging in ongoing research. The flexible opportunities can suit various interests, needs, and working patterns, with interns matched to a mentor for support. The duration is up to 10 weeks, taking place between May and July, with a flexible time commitment of up to 30 hours. NHS placements are exclusively offered to existing NHS employees.
