The Biostatistics Epidemiology Summer Training (BEST) Program is designed to expand and diversify the behavioral and biomedical sciences' workforce by introducing undergraduate students from underrepresented populations to biostatistics and cardiovascular and pulmonary disease research. This intensive eight-week program brings together students from racial and ethnic minority groups, disadvantaged backgrounds, and those with disabilities to the Department of Biostatistics at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health. Participants engage in research, receive specialized training, partake in academic and career planning, and participate in social activities within New York City. The program's primary purpose is to provide valuable research experience in biostatistics and epidemiology, fostering the next generation of diverse public health researchers.
