SUSTech Fellowship Program

For Overseas and Hong Kong/Macau PhD Students

Fellowship

The SUSTech Fellowship Program offers an opportunity for full-time doctoral students from overseas and Hong Kong/Macau universities to undertake a one-year visiting study period at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). The program supports their research endeavors. This fellowship primarily targets students in humanities and social science-related research fields. Participants collaborate with a SUSTech faculty member who serves as their co-supervisor, developing a tripartite research proposal. Successful candidates gain visiting student status at SUSTech, allowing them to engage in research without formal enrollment in courses. The program provides a stipend to support participants during their study period.

Application

Criteria: Must be a full-time PhD student at an eligible university (top 150 globally or in HK/Macao). Nationality is not restricted. Must have completed doctoral stage coursework. Preference for PhD students who have passed their doctoral qualification examination. Must be physically and mentally healthy, of good moral character, have excellent academic performance, significant research ability, outstanding development potential, and actively participate in scientific research. Must comply with Chinese laws and SUSTech's regulations. Requires consent and support from their current PhD supervisor. Must contact a SUSTech faculty member to serve as a co-supervisor; both supervisors must have a strong willingness to cooperate. The applicant and both supervisors must develop a mutually agreed-upon research plan. The SUSTech co-supervisor must provide a letter of acceptance, indicating their willingness to accept the applicant and the research conditions they can provide.

Costs & Contact

Stipend: 200,000 CNY per year (before tax), issued monthly
Cost: No tuition fees. Participants are responsible for accommodation, insurance, visa, and travel.
